Policeman dies in road accident

A duty traffic police constable has died after being run over by a truck in Gazipur’s Kaliakoir Upazila. Police seized the truck and detained its driver immediately after the accident around 7:15am on Thursday, said Kaliakoir Police Station SI Md Abu Bakkar Matabbar. Md Salamat, 45, worked at the traffic department in Gazipur district. He hailed from Tangail district. The speeding truck coming from Tangail ran over Salamat, leaving him dead on the spot, SI Matabbar said quoting locals. The driver tried to flee but locals managed to seize the truck, he said, according to bdnews24.com.
