Policeman shoots colleague to death

A policeman shot to death one of his colleagues over a trifling matter at Baghaihat police outpost under Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati district on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Anwar Hossain, 24, a constable of Sajek Police Station in the upazila. Sources at Sajek Police Station said Constable Anwar was shot and critically injured by his colleague Moktadir, also a constable of the police outpost following an altercation over ration allocation in the morning. The victim was rushed to a local hospital which referred him to Combined Military Hospital in Chittagong Cantonment where he succumbed to his injuries, they added. Police and locals said the incident took place at the Baghaihat outpost when Constable Moktadir fired three rounds of bullets at Anwar Hossain as an altercation broke out between the two over ration at around 9:00am. Bullet hit Anwar was rushed to Khagarachari Dhiginala Military Hospital immediately after the incident. As his condition deteriorated there, he was shifted to the Chittagong CMH where he succumbed in the afternoon. Moktadir was arrested after the incident, the Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sajek Police Station said, according to a news agency.
