Policy to check dust pollution demanded

Leaders of Save Environment Movement Friday called upon the government to formulate a specific policy and implement it properly to check dust pollution, reports BSS.
They also urged the government and non-government organisations to create mass awareness about dust pollution and its adverse impact on health.
"Dust pollution is a severe threat to the public health as well as furniture, houses, offices and archeological objects," they said while addressing a meeting after the 'road sweeping programme' at Dhanmondi in the city.
Besides, they said, a large number of people have been suffering from various diseases like asthma, tuberculosis, bronchitis and eye ailments due to dust pollution.
Save Environment Movement and Council for Prevention of the Dust Pollution jointly arranged the road sweeping programme from Dhanmondi Road No. 4/A to Abahani Ground.
Eminent Architect Shamsul Wares, Chairman of Save Environment Movement Abu Naser Khan, Convener of Council for Prevention of the Dust Pollution Mohammad Zafar Beg, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Asia Pacific University MR Kabir, Architect Badrul Haider and Syed Imtiaz Ahmed Shuvo addressed the meeting, among others.
A large number of people including students and teachers of the universities of Dhanmondi area joined the programme, a press release said.
