Political unrest crippling economy
Saturday, 17 January 2015
The common people are now a depressed lot and have no clue about which way the country is heading to. Howsoever hard the ruling party may claim, the situation is fast going out of control and the ongoing political programme of the opposition is already taking its toll on the economy. Everyone is frustrated with the prevailing political unrest in the country. Last three weeks witnessed violence, death and destruction which could have been avoided. The responsibility clearly lies with the ruling party which should first come forward and pave the way for a peaceful and negotiated settlement to the crisis.
Before the last general elections, the ruling party announced that the 5th January elections were a mere formality for the sake of constitution and later they would hold a proper election. But surprisingly, it took a u-turn from its earlier pledge which is shocking. We, the common people, want to live in peace and tranquillity. How can democracy sustain without accountability of the ruling party? I hope, soon the present political turmoil will be over and we will have peace and democracy prevailing.
