Political violence: Mirza Alamgir, 28 others charged

Detective Branch (DB) of police on Thursday pressed charges against 29 BNP leaders, including its acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a case filed in connection with political violence on March 2, 2013. DB inspector submitted the charge-sheet to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Anwar Sadat. BNP leaders Mirza Abbas, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdullah Al Noman, Amanullah Aman, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Mir Sarafat Ali Safu, Moazzem Hossain Alal and Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anny were among the charge-sheeted accused. The case was filed against them with Ramna Police Station for vandalising and torching vehicles from Shantibagh to Malibagh crossing during their demonstration on March 2 last year, according to UNB.
