NARAYANGANJ, Dec 18 (BSS): Bangladesh Awami League led Mohajote candidate and film actress Sarah Begum Kabori has received a boost against Four-party Alliance nominee Shah Alam in the battle for Narayanganj-4 parliamentary seat as Narayanganj Pourasabha Mayor Dr Selina Hyat Ivy started campaigning for her.
Kabori's main contestant Shah Alam also gained considerable ground in the poll race as former MP and president of Narayanganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohammad Ali extended his all out support to the four-party MP candidate.
Locals said both the candidates are preparing for a major electoral showdown within the next couple of days as the state of emergency had been lifted.
The support extended by the local bigwigs to the two main contestants has added a new dimension to the ongoing poll campaign in the constituency.
An industrialist and social worker Shah Alam is a new face in the political field. His elder brother Mohammad Shahjahan, a Jatiya Party (Ershad) leader, withdrew his candidature in favour of Kabori's election symbol boat.
