The Election Commission (EC) plans to arrange polls in early May in the upazilas (UZs) where the voting could not be held during the five-phase local body elections. “We’re thinking of holding elections to the remaining upazilas in May,” Election Commissioner Md Shah Nawaz told reporters at his EC Secretariat office on Monday. He said the final decision in this regard will be taken after the return of Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad from the USA. Out of the country’s 487 upazila parishads, polls has already held in 459 upazilas in five phases that concluded on March 31, according to a news agency.
