Polluted WASA water compounds Rampura residents' woes

Friday, 19 September 2008

FE Report
Drinking water being supplied to Rampura and adjoining areas in the city is getting polluted due to leaks in the Dhaka WASA pipeline, which is the major cause of health hazards in the areas.
The residents of the area have taken the matter to the notice of Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed as the authorities concerned were not responding to their repeated pleas.
Around 252 dwellers of Rampura and adjoining areas, in a letter to the Chief Adviser, said children of most of the families in the areas were suffering from diseases like diarrhoea due to pollution of the drinking water.
The signatories in the letter urged the Chief Adviser to ask the authorities concerned to take necessary measures immediately to repair the supply line to end the crisis and help them out during the holy month of Ramadan.
