Poor air quality in Dhaka

Tuesday, 10 September 2019

Dhaka's air quality has been deteriorating over the years. We see too much dust in Dhaka city as most of the construction works go on openly. In tiny countries like Singapore, the construction sites are fully covered with a curtain so that dust cannot go out and spoil the surrounding environment. Dust is a serious problem of our city and it causes health hazards, for children, women, and elderly people. With rapid urbanisation, the demand for housing and other construction-related works are increasing. Such construction work will get further momentum in the coming days, so we must protect ourselves from excess dust. Individually, we can use mask while moving from one place to another in Dhaka. At the same time, steps need to be taken for addressing the issue of dust that made Dhaka one of the worst cities in the world.
