Popular Pharmaceuticals Limited recently signed an agreement for technology transfer, marketing and distribution of vaccines with Panacea Biotec.
Panacea Biotech Deputy Managing Director Rajesh Jain and Popular Pharma Chief Operating Officer Dr Pinaki Bhattacharya signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies.
Panacea, a WHO accredited vaccine manufacturing company, exports its vaccine for EPI coverage in Bangladesh.
Popular has already invested to build world-class vaccine manufacturing plant in Tongi.
Every year approximately four million children receive vaccine through EPI for six common diseases and most of the vaccines are imported so far.
Local manufacturing of vaccines is expected to ensure EPI coverage with low cost and make the country self reliant in vaccine manufacturing technology in near future.
