Popularise derivative products: CSE

Monday, 3 December 2007

FE Report
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) President Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury urged the journalist community to educate general investors on the derivative products.
The CSE president made the observation after inaugurating a seminar organised by the CSE for the local journalist community at the CSE conference hall in the port city recently.
Nasiruddin Ahmed, in his inaugural speech, said when the bourses would finally launch the products, it would be necessary for all to understand the derivative product. Without having adequate derivative knowledge, it is impossible to implement it by the stock exchanges.
In the present scenario, introduction of such products would surely increase the confidence of the investors, he said, adding that trainings, especially designed for the market operators, would help prepare the brokers as well as the exchange for introducing derivative products.
National Stock Exchange of India Assistant Vice President Arup Mukherjee made his presentation on the topic.
Mukherjee, in his speech, said derivatives are essential products for risk management while investing in the stock market and when there is any derivative on a stock, it increases the liquidity of that stock in the cash market resulting in the overall liquidity in the market.

CSE CEO AB Siddique said that the course is the outcome of our series of awareness seminars on familiarising derivatives in the stock market. The seminar will put us one step forward to introducing derivatives in the market.
It is now the need of time to elevate the stock market to international standards.
The derivative products, which do not exist at all in our stock market, are the most popular investment instruments for the corporate investors as well as for individuals in the developed countries including India and Pakistan.
CSE General Manager Atiquzzaman and Deputy Manager AKM Shahroze Alam were also present, among others, on the occasion.
