CHITTAGONG, Apr 24 (BSS): Every nook and corner of the port city wore a festive mood as the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) polls are nearing and electioneering is becoming more festive day by day.
All 42 wards of CCC have been vibrating with round-the-clock high-voltage polls campaign by the respective mayor and councilor candidates.
Everywhere, from tea stall to drawing rooms, premises of places of worships to social gatherings are dominated with election related sporadic discussions.
Many central top brass of the ruling Awami League and BNP are regularly visiting the premier port city and joining election campaigns to woo voters in favour of the two frontline mayoral candidates blessed by their respective parties.
AL-endorsed mayoral candidate AJM Nasir urged on Friday the city dwellers to give him a chance to turn Chittagong into a mega city in real sense of the term.
Nasir made the plea while conducting mass contact with employees of Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) and its garments workers.
"I will turn the city into a mega city, if I am elected mayor," said Nasir while conducting mass-contact with garments workers of CEPZ area.
On the other hand, BNP-blessed mayoral candidate M Manjur Alam also begged votes for him in the upcoming polls through holding street rallies at Pathantully and Lalkhanbazar areas of the city.
During his electoral campaigns, Manjur claimed that mass support was swelling in favour of him as he worked for the welfare of the city residents in the last five years as their elected mayor.
