Positive effects of Covid-19 on environment

Tuesday, 1 September 2020

Despite other challenges the Covid-19 pandemic has posed, Bangladesh's environment seems to have undergone certain positive changes. These days cities look greener due to the shutdown for some time. Slowdown in movement of people and motor vehicles has allowed the nature to get rid of pollution. Once crowded tourist spots have turned more serene. There are reports of visibility of dolphins in Cox's Bazar.
However, such developments need to be supported by human efforts to make our environment better. For example, people need to be asked not to litter plastic materials and masks and personal protective equipment here and there. Authorities concerned need to take initiatives to ensure that rivers and forests are free from human activities that pollute the nature.
