The Potato Festival-2025 is set to begin at a convention centre in the city on 12 December.
President of the Bangladesh Cold Storage Association (BCSA) Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu came up with the information at a programme titled "Potato Festival 2025 -- Meet The Press" at the BCSA office in the capital on Saturday.
Guests present at the event include BCSA Senior Vice President Eshtiaque Ahmed, Vice President Mohammed Younus and Managing Director of Postmaster Communication Faizul Alam.
Mostofa Azad said the festival will play a crucial role in projecting Bangladesh's potato industry before the global arena, showcasing modern technologies, and expanding both local and international investment and export opportunities.
He focused on the diversified use of potato, export potential and its strategic planning, modern preservation technologies, and the expansion of the potato processing industry in Bangladesh.
Speakers at the event stated that although Bangladesh ranks seventh in the world and third in Asia in potato production, the country is yet to fully utilise its true potential due to a lack of adequate modern storage systems, processing technologies, and export-friendly infrastructure.
The international exhibition will feature participation from hundreds of domestic and foreign organisations involved in potato production, storage, processing, value addition, export, cold-chain technology, agricultural machinery, food innovation, and culinary arts.
