Potato harvesting on in full swing in Tangail

TANGAIL, Jan 6: Harvesting of potato is going on in full swing at all the 12 upazilas of the district.
According to department of Agriculture extension (DAE) Tangail a total of 3956 hectares of land were brought under potato cultivation in 12 upazilas with a production target of 77771 metric tonnes.
Farmers and DAE Tangail are expecting a bumper production of potato in the district this season as the plants have grown well due to a favourable climatic condition.
Market sources said the market price of potato is reasonably good. In the present market potato is being sold Tk 30 to 40 per kg and the farmers are happy over the price.
Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) and government and non-government banks disbursed adequate Robi corps loans to make potato cultivation a complete success.
