Potato to be cultivated on 4,265 hectares in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, Dec 30 (BSS): As many as 4,265 hectares of land to be brought under potato cultivation in the district this year.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has fixed a target of producing 83,300 tonnes of potato in the current season.
They said potato to be cultivated on 847 hectares of land with a production target of 16,543 tonnes in Jamalpur sadar upazila, 503 hectares of land with a production target of 9,824 tonnes in Sarishabari upazila, 315 hectares of land with a production target 6,152 tonnes in Melandah upazila, 456 hectares of land with a production target of 8,906 tonnes in Islampur upazila, 372 hectares of land with a production target 7,266 of tonnes in Dewanganj upazila, 330 hectares of land with a production target of 6,445 tonnes in Madarganj upazila and 1,442 hectares of land with a production target of 2,8164 tonnes in Bakshiganj upazila.
The farmers, they said, have already cultivated potato on 3,623 hectares of land here till December 30.
