Poultry industry leaders seek tax exemption

Thursday, 11 June 2015

Poultry industry leaders on Wednesday sought tax exemption for the poultry sector to help poultry farmers produce more poultry products and revive the sector, reports UNB.
After a meeting of the Poultry Industry Coordinator Committee at its city office, they said Finance Minister AHA Muhith in his fiscal 2014-15 budget speech announced that the country's poultry industry would get tax exemption facility upto 2019, but tax is going to be imposed on poultry products from fiscal 2015-15, which will adversely affect the sector.
Dr MA Khan, general secretary of Bangladesh Poultry Industries Association (BPIA), said the country must produce over 40 million eggs and 3,500 tonnes of chicken meat a day by 2021 to meet its domestic demand.
