Poultry insurance soon: Minister
Monday, 28 March 2011
Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Abdul Latif Biswas said the government would take steps soon to introduce poultry insurance for development of the country's poultry sector, reports BSS.
The Minister made the comment while speaking at a seminar on "Prospect of Poultry Industry" at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city Sunday.
The World's Poultry Science Association (WPSA) organised the exhibition.
Fisheries and Animal Resources Secretary Uzzal Bikash Dutta and Director General of Fisheries Department Ashraf Ali spoke at the seminar as the special guests.
bdnews24.com report adds: The government will send seven 'ideal' poultry farmers abroad to gather knowledge on bio-security in farms.
The decision came in the wake of recent outbreak of bird-flu in the country, causing substantial loss to the booming poultry sector, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas said Sunday.
The farmers from Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet and Rangpur divisions will travel abroad by the year-end, he told the closing ceremony of a three-day exhibition.
