Powdered milk, biscuits become costlier

Prices of powdered milk and imported biscuits increased in the city's retail markets as additional tax has been imposed on the items in the proposed national budget for 2009-10 which will come into effect from July 01.
Prices of powdered milk and imported biscuits varied from market to market. Some retailers sold 400gm pack of NIDO milk at Tk 210 against the price of Tk 200 just a day before.
Imported biscuits packets from Pakistan, Iran and Malaysia were sold at Tk 220 against the previous price Tk 200.
The retailers said that the price increased as the government imposed tax on the items.
