Power Division inks APAs with 12 state-owned entities

The Power Division inked Tuesday separate Annual Performance Agreement (APA) with 12 state-owned entities in the power sector regarding Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for fiscal year (FY) 2015-16 aiming at transparency, accountability and responsibility of entities and individuals.
Power Division secretary Monowar Islam and managing directors and company secretaries of state-run power entities, including Bangladesh power Development Board (BPDB), Rural Electrification Board (REB), Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd (DESCO), Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC), West Zone Power Distribution Company (WZPDCO), Power Grid Company Bangladesh Ltd (PGCB), Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB), Ashuganj Power Station Company Ltd (APSCL), Rural Power Company Ltd (RPCL), North West Power Generation Company (NWPGC), Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Ltd (CPGCB), signed the APAs for their respective sides at a function at Bidyut Bhaban.
State Minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid was the chief guest at the function.
The Power Division introduced the KPI three years ago in order to improve the overall performance of the state-run organisations and also the individual performance of their workers as part of its initiative to build up a strong base for the public sector utilities.
The KPI areas cover corporate governance, institutional development, financial management, audit capabilities, operational improvement and human resource development.
As per the vision to provide electricity for all by 2021, the government has taken various challenging initiatives and has given utmost importance to improve the power sector, Mr Hamid said in the APA signing ceremony.
