Power & energy sector may get Tk 105b budget allocation

The power and energy sector may receive a development allocation of about Tk 105 billion in the national budget for 2014-15 to be unveiled by Finance Minister AMA Muhith in parliament on Thursday. Of the allocation, according to official sources, the power sector will dominate by receiving about Tk 93 billion while the energy sector may get Tk 12 billion for implementing various development projects. In the outgoing fiscal, the power and energy sector together received a total of 113.08 billion in development heads of which Power Division had received an allocation of Tk 90.33 billion and Energy Division received Tk 22.55 billion, according to a news agency.
