Power plant deal with Chinese firm Wednesday

State-owned North West Power Generation Company Limited (NWPGCL) will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday with a Chinese power company, CMC, to set up a 1320-MW power plant in Patuakhali. Officials said both sides will ink the deal at a function at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the city. The two companies will form a joint venture company to set the plant. Prime Minister’s Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid and the Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka are expected to be present at the function, according to a news agency.
