Country's power supply situation remained steady with the generation hovering around 4,200 megawatts (mw) of electricity in the last several days, thanks to closure of four gas-consuming fertiliser factories.
"There was no major trip or shut down of any power plants resulting in apparently steady electricity supply," a Power Development Board (PDB) official said.
He said Chittagong's major Rauzan 210mw plant was among a few plants remained shut Sunday.
Electricity generation during daytime deteriorated reaching as low as 3,270mw with the suspension of electricity generation from several peaking power plants.
Load shedding, however, continued to grip the country's overall economy hampering businesses besides causing untold sufferings of people as the electricity generation is far below the demand of around 6,000 mw.
Around 400mw of electricity was halted Sunday due to forced outages of power plants, 300mw for gas supply shortfall and 30mw for water shortage in Kaptai hydropower.
Load shedding in Dhaka was around 60mw, in Chittagong it was around 35mw, in Khulna 27, in Rajshahi 18 mw, in Mymensingh 20mw, in Barisal 12mw and in Rangpur 10mw
In Dhaka electricity load shedding was 107mw, in Chittagong it was around 37mw, in Khulna 27mw, in Rajshahi 18mw, in Mynamsingh 8mw, in Barisal 5mw and in Rangpur 15mw.
