Powerful 7.3 quake hits off PNG

A powerful 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Papua New Guinea on Friday, US officials said, while ruling out any threat of a tsunami. The US Geological Survey said the quake was measured at a depth of around 50 kilometres and was about 52 kilometres from the town of Panguna on Bougainville island, according to AFP.
