Pragati Ins approves 15pc cash, 15pc stock dividends

Pragati Insurance Limited has approved 15 per cent cash and 15 per cent stock dividends for its shareholders for the year 2006.
The approval was given at the 21st annual general meeting (AGM) of the company at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city Thursday.
Pragati Insurance Limited Chairman Khalilur Rahman presided over the meeting while its Managing Director AKM Rafiqul Islam was present on the occasion.
Members of the board of directors and a large number of shareholders of the company attended the meeting.
The meeting re-elected six directors from 'A' group shareholders, namely, Khalilur Rahman, Syed A Altaf Hussain, Nigar Jahan Chowdhury, Imam Anwar Hossain, Moazzam Hossain and A Latif, and four directors from the public shareholders, namely, Ahamedul Hoque, AJM Enamul Islam, ASM Mainuddin Monem and Tafsir Mohammed Awal.
During the year 2006, the company earned gross premium of Tk 695.43 million, which was 10 per cent higher than that of the previous year.
The company earned a pre-tax profit of Tk 121.97 million against Tk 98.35 million of the previous year.
