Prantik -- the lone aluminium shipbuilder of the country

DESH Shipbuilding and Engineering Ltd (DSEL), an enterprise of Prantik Group, has recently entered the flourishing shipbuilding industry in Bangladesh with an aim to build specialized Aluminium ships.
Being established in May 2008 under the umbrella of Prantik Group, the company has been engaged in developing infrastructure facilities to become a shipyard of international stature.
Situated in Bhatiary of Sitakunda, Chittagong, on an area of 26,000 square feet ,where there are two weather proof covered production sheds, each of 10,000 square feet with state-of-the-art equipment. The shipyard is now completely ready to build Aluminium ship of any size, which includes pilot vessel, offshore supply vessel, pleasure boat, cruise ship, patrol boat, ambulance ship and others within stipulated timeframe at the lowest cost.
Where speed and economy is the prime aim of the shippers across the globe DSEL is pioneering in this sector in Bangladesh as there is no other company engaged in building such specialized ships.
DSEL shipyard has the PQR (procedure qualification record) approved from Bureau Veritus (France) to follow the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) code and AWS (American Welding Society) code, which will ensure a quality work of highest Ship Building Standard.
The shipyard has recently recruited certified aluminium welders experienced in the Middle East for years. A consultant with 30 years' experience in aluminium shipbuilding in the Middle East and technical manager with 20 years' experience in Singapore have also joined the group.
It is to be mentioned here that Prantik was the Pioneer in building first Ocean Going Vessel, namely Barge PRANTIK under class Germanischer Lloyd in 2002.
Engineer Md Golam Sarwar, founder and managing director of Prantik Group established Prantik Marine Services Ltd in 1998. A UK certified marine chief engineer, a Canadian MBA holder, with a post-graduate degree in Maritime Law from London Metropolitan University, Mr Sarwar is an entrepreneur with a difference.
Himself a salvor, underwater diver, independent and special casualty surveyor, he has to his credit, publications on salvage in Technical Journal of the Institute of Maritime Engineering, Science and Technology, London.
A dreamer and confident personality with ethical business practice enabled him to introduce various maritime and industrial services such as tackling marine accidents, underwater surveying, water weights load testing, pressure testing of pressure vessels etc in Bangladesh market.
Prantik Marine Services Ltd., the parent company of Prantik Group, has introduced load testing of lifting gears by water weight load cell for marine, offshore and onshore industries, the first ever in Bangladesh. Load testing facilities has given an opportunity to Prantik to enter in consultancy/services sector for erection of project equipment in Power Plant and Oil & Gas Industry.
Prantik Marine has very recently introduced testing services for Pressure Vessel Testing and Pressure & Temperature Gauge Calibration using certified and calibrated Master Gauges and Temperature calibrator for the multinational and national companies of Bangladesh for their ISO 9001:2000 Certification and Periodic Auditing requirements.
Prantik Bengal Salvage and Diving -- a sister concern of Prantik Group, the only International Association of Classification Society (IACS) approved In-water survey company in Bangladesh -- carries out underwater survey and repair works for ships calling at Chittagong and Mongla Port and other marine installations. Prantik to its credit has the "biggest successful salvage operation done by a local company in Bangladesh waters" by Raising of sunken motor vessel SOUTHERN QUEEN as a single piece from Jetty no.1, Chittagong Port in 2001. They have done numerous salvage operations engaged by P&I clubs. Prantik Salvage and Diving is a well known salvage company to Salvage Association, and London Insurance Market.
Prantik's Faststream Logistics Ltd., engaged in coastal and inland transportation has recently acquired an Ocean Tug Boat (2400 BHP), the biggest in Private sector, classed and two Barges (720 DWT and 3582 DWT) for services in Bangladesh waters and across. By acquiring this tug boat, they offer emergency salvage/towing services to disabled/distressed ships in the Bay of Bengal and transportation of project equipment such as power plant machinery, heavy industry machinery, dredgers etc keeping an important role in infrastructure development of the country.
