Preparations for Durga Puja going on in full swing in Tangail

TANGAIL, Sept 21: Preparations for Durga Puja are going on in full swing in Tangail. The festival begins on October 1 with the religious fervour and it will wrap up on October 4 through celebrating Bijoya Dashami.
President of Durga Puja Udjapan Parishad of the district Sree Subhash Chandra Shaha said Hindu community of 12 upazilas of the district is hopeful of celebrating the greatest Hindu religious festival in a joyful situation this year. About 1190 Puja mondops are being set up this year in the district.
Secretary of District Puja Udjapan Parishad Babu Mukul Shaha informed that the parishad has decided not to beat drums and other noisy musical equipment when Muslim community offer their prayers.  
Construction of the idols of goddess Durga is nearing completion at several Puja mondops of 12 upazilas of the district.
The district administration has distributed about 596 metric tonnes of rice to 1190 Puja mondps of the district to celebrate the Durga Puja.
