Preparations for Durga Puja on in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, Sept 24: Preparations for celebrating Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of Hindu community, have been progressing fast in the district as commencement of the festival getting near.
The four-day festival will begin on October 1 with due religious fervour and zeal. The festival will be wrapped up on October 4 through celebration of Bijoya Dashami.
A total of 1077 Puja Mondops will be set up in five upazilas including Gopalganj city.
District Puja Udjapan Committee has decided not to beat drums and others musical equipment from 4.45 to 6-30pm everyday as the Muslims will offer prayers at that time.
The district administration has distributed 517 metric tonnes (MT) of rice to 1077 Puja Mondops of the district to celebrate the Durga Puja. The administration will take tight security measures at Puja Mandops to make the religious festival a total success, official sources said.
