Preparatory meet begins today

Bangladesh Hockey Federation has organised a preparatory tournament at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium from Monday, ahead of the Asian Cup Hockey to be held on September 1-9 in Chennai in India, reports UNB.
The 28-member preliminary Bangladesh squad for the Asian Cup- divided into two groups -- Red and Yellow -- will compete in the four-day meet along with Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force.
The final match of the single-league basis tournament will be held on August 9, also at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium.
Talking to the news agency Sunday afternoon, Hockey Federation Joint Secretary Khwaja Rahmatullah said they are planning to announce the 18-member Asian Cup final squad on August 9.
Eleven teams, split into two groups, will participate in the upcoming Asian Cup Hockey.
Bangladesh have been placed in Group B along with hosts India, Korea, China, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
The Group A comprises Pakistan, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
