Wednesday, 31 December 2014
The parliamentary panel on Wednesday suggested preparing the academic calendar for both government and non-government secondary schools. It also suggested setting up at least five more government secondary schools in Chittagong metropolitan area, while four in Rangpur city. Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education Ministry came up with the suggestions at its 8th meeting, held at Jatiya Sangsad and presided over by its chairman Afsarul Amin. Discussing the problems that hinder academic activities of the secondary schools, the committee asked the government to bring all the government and non-government secondary schools of the country under the academic calendar. The parliamentary watchdog also advised the ministry to engage guardians and local people alongside administrative officials to supervise academic activities of the schools with a view to improving the standard of education, according to a news agency.
