Preserving the lifeline of our planet
Sunday, 7 June 2026
The ocean is one of the most important natural resources on our planet. Covering more than seventy percent of the Earth's surface, it plays a vital role in sustaining life. The ocean provides a large amount of seafood, including fish, which is a major source of nutrition for millions of people worldwide. It also produces much of the oxygen we breathe, helps regulate the global climate, supports biodiversity, and contributes significantly to economies through fishing, tourism, and trade. Healthy oceans mean healthy food, clean air, a stable climate, and a balanced environment for all living beings. Therefore, protecting the ocean is essential for our survival and the future of the Earth.
To save our ocean, we must build responsible, honest, and positive habits. Every individual has a role to play in protecting marine ecosystems. People should never throw waste, plastic, or any harmful materials into the sea, rivers, canals, or other water bodies that eventually connect to the ocean. Pollution from travel, fishing activities, and daily life must be strictly avoided, as even small or hidden actions can cause long-term damage to marine life and the entire ecosystem.
Industries and factories also play a major role in ocean protection. They must responsibly treat and manage their waste before releasing it into any water source. Harmful chemicals, plastics, oil, and other pollutants should never be dumped into rivers, seas, or oceans, whether openly or secretly. Such practices not only damage marine ecosystems but also threaten human health by contaminating seafood and water resources. Governments must enforce strict environmental laws and monitoring systems to prevent illegal dumping and hold polluters accountable. Strong policies, combined with proper implementation, can significantly reduce pollution and protect marine biodiversity.
Protecting the ocean is not just a responsibility; it is our duty to life on Earth. By taking action today and encouraging others to do the same, we can preserve this invaluable resource and ensure a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
