President asks PGR to carry out duties with loyalty

President Zillur Rahman Sunday directed his elite President Guard Regiment (PGR) members to continue performing their duties with utmost sincerity and skill showing firm loyalty to the leadership, reports BSS.
"You have to remember the holly responsibility, which was conferred upon you by the country that is very prestigious," he said this while addressing the Darbar (Gathering) of the PGR at Shahid Capt Hafiz Hall at PGR headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment to mark its 34 founding anniversary.
During the Darbar, the President said he was impressed to see the integrity, devotion and above all sense of discipline and professional efficiency of all PGR members while discharging their duties.
Terming the duties of the PGR as prestigious, but risky, the President said range and arena of duties of the PGR had increased against the demand of time and the manpower of the regiment had been increased accordingly.
"My allout cooperation will continue in further strengthening and modernising of this regiment," he said.
The President said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with his extraordinary vision and for the need of the state established the PGR in 1975 by recruiting smart officers and soldiers of the Bangladesh Army.
