President asks varsity students to develop nation in next 10 yrs

President M Zillur Rahman Monday urged the university students to make their due contribution to turn the country into a developed and rich nation within next ten years when it will celebrate the golden jubilee of independence, reports UNB. The President gave the call while addressing the 1st convocation of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city. Adviser to the Prime Minister Prof Dr Alauddin Ahmed and University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof M Nazrul Islam also spoke on the occasion while Prof Rehman Sobhan was the Convocation Speaker. Chairman of BUBT Trustee Board Prof Dr Shafique Ahmed Siddique and BUBT Vice-Chancellor Prof M Abu Saleh, among others, also spoke at the function. A total of 1283 students were conferred degrees at the convocation and three students received gold medals from the Chancellor for their outstanding academic results. President M Zillur Rahman told the students "You will have to repay the debt until the last day of your life with your deeds, thoughts and spirit." The President mentioned that the golden jubilee of the country's independence would be celebrated after ten years and said the university students in their working life would have to make due contributions to turn the country into a developed and rich nation by that time. "The building of 'Sonar Bangla' was the dream of father of the nation Bangabhandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. all will have to contribute to make this a reality," he said.
