President calls for effectively integrating every sector of economy with IT

President Md Zillur Rahman has called for effectively integrating every sector of economy with information technology (IT) to utilise ICT in broader economic development.
At the same time, he has also pushed for better infrastructure and training facilities at the grassroots level to familiarise the broader segment of the people with the advantages of information technology.
"Almost every sector of economy including telecommunications, business and trade, rural development, tourism and healthcare is closely related with the proper and effective utilisation of information technology", the President said while inaugurating the first ever 'Digital Bangladesh Summit' at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city Sunday.
"Therefore, large scale modernisation of these sectors through digitisation can bring about extensive economic development and the betterment of the people," Zillur added.
Bangladesh Computer Samity - the national trade body of the IT sector -organised the event for the first time in the country.
Focusing on the latest trend of the IT sector in international context, Zillur said, "In the recent years, successive progress in the global IT scene has closely integrated the developed world with the developing world, which has ensured better timesaving and increase in the pace of work while also enhancing the quality of the products and services".
The President also called for increasing the ICT training facilities at the local and regional levels to take the advantage of information technology to the doorsteps of the common people.
"Necessary infrastructure and training facilities must be increased at all the divisions, districts and upazilas to educate people about the uses and advantages of ICT which could also ensure rapid growth of the IT sector", Zillur said.
