President calls for social movement against smoking

President Iajuddin Ahmed has called for waging social movement across the country against smoking to save the new generation from the harmful effects of tobacco, reports UNB.

He made the call when a delegation of ADHUNIK, a leading anti-tobacco organisation, led by its founder president and National Professor Nurul Islam, called on the President at Bangabhaban Sunday.

President Iajuddin underscored the need for inclusion of different articles in secondary level textbooks highlighting the harmful effects of tobacco.

He also laid emphasis on banning smoking on the educational campuses.

The delegation apprised the President of their activities. .

Secretary to the President M Sirajul Islam and President's Press Secretary Abdul Awal Hawlader were present.
