President expresses deep shock at loss of lives from hurricane 'Sidr'

President Iajuddin Ahmed expressed deep shock at the loss of lives and property caused by the severe cyclonic storm 'Sidr' that swept over the country Thursday midnight.
The President has also conveyed sympathy to the affected families in the country, reports UNB.
Expressing satisfaction over the relief programme undertaken by the government, Iajuddin said all concerned should work sincerely to ensure quick distribution of relief materials among the affected people.
He asked the authorities concerned to take immediate steps in strengthening rescue operation in the cyclone-hit areas and providing quick treatment to the injured.
He also expressed his profound gratitude to Almighty Allah as the country came out of danger from the influence of the cyclone.
Over 329 people were killed and thousands injured in 12 districts as powerful cyclonic storm 'Sidr' lashed the country's south and southwestern regions Thursday midnight.
