President for boosting road, rail link with Myanmar

President M Zillur Rahman Monday emphasized improving relations with Myanmar through building direct rail and road connectivity between the two countries to boost bilateral trade and commerce, reports UNB.
"It's essential to improve the relations with Myanmar," he said when Chief of Army Staff General M Abdul Mubeen called on him at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, the Army Chief informed the Presidentthat he would go to Myanmar on May 21 on a one-week official visit and will hold meetings with military high officials including Chiefs of the Armed Forces of the country.
The Army Chief also apprised the President that Indian Army Chief will visit Bangladesh next June.
He further informed that Bangladesh Army has been working to create awareness about natural calamities, especially about preparedness for pre-and post-earthquake situations in the country.
Gen Mubeen said the ongoing task of rebuilding and repairing the Aila-damaged roads and infrastructures in the country's southwestern coastal regions, launched by Bangladesh Army in cooperation with Bangladesh Water Development Board, would be completed by the end of the current month (May).
