President for establishing edn institutes outside capital

President M Zillur Rahman Sunday urged the authorities of higher educational institutions to build their establishments outside the capital for reducing infrastructural pressures on Dhaka city as well as opening higher education opportunities to all, report agencies.
The President made the remarks while laying the foundation stone of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) campus in the city's Green Road area Sunday.
UAP Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Matin Patwari and Chairman of the university's board of Trustees Engr M Abu Taher also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
The President said many educational and business institutions being built in the residential areas have been spoiling environment and also disrupting the normal life of the capital. President M Zillur Rahman said excess infrastructural establishments are creating many problems in the capital including traffic jam and scarcity of daily essentials- gas, water and electricity.
He said educational institutions and industrial units should be built at the open space outside the capital city. "I hope all the patrons of learning and entrepreneurs of industries will consider the issues with deep importance."
The President said though some private universities have been playing important role in providing quality education, most of the universities have shortage of own campus and infrastructures especially for conducting research activities.
The President expressed his hope that the new campus of UAP would help to further enrich its education and research activities.
