President for including topic of adulteration in school textbooks

President Iajuddin Ahmed Wednesday stressed the need for including 'adulteration' as a topic in school curricula as an initiative to build up a social movement against the vice, reports UNB.
"We'll have to wage a social movement against adulteration to protect public health," he said when a delegation of Bangladesh Consumer Rights Society met him at Bangabhaban.
The President also called upon the conscious section of the society, including teachers and religious representatives, to come forward to create mass awareness against the growing malpractice of adulteration.
The delegation, led by the patron of the society Justice M Habibur Rahman Khan, appraised the President of their activities.
They said the Society will supply and sell pure products and raw materials at fair prices in open markets at different places of the country, including Dhaka, before the holy Ramadan.
The leaders said they were carrying out their campaign to create mass awareness and build up a social movement against adulteration.
They said the Society would hold a grand rally against adulteration soon. They also presented the President CDs and cassettes containing music against adulteration.
The President assured them of all-out cooperation in carrying out their anti-adulteration programmes.
Bidyut Chowdhury, M Shahidul Islam Hawlader, M Samsul Haq, Mumin Miah, Sheikh Ali Akkas, Mahabur Alam Sheikh Russell, Mehedi Hasan Mintu, M Sumon Khalashi, Kazi Nuruzzaman Milon and Rezaul Karim were in the delegation.
Military Secretary to the President Major General M Aminul Karim and Secretary to the President's office M Sirajul Islam were present on the occasion.
