President for making media more pro-people***

President M Zillur Rahman Sunday gave directives to Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Abul Kalam Azad to take efforts for making the country's print and electronic media more people-oriented, reports BSS. "Make print and electronic media more people-oriented so that they could further contribute to ensuring welfare of common people," the President said as the information minister met him at Bangabhaban in the city. Referring to the number of print and electronic media that has increased in the country in recent time, the President said they would have to act as pro-people force. President Rahman expressed his satisfaction over the business of the information minister for running the country's print and electronic media smoothly. During the meeting, the minister invited the President to join the celebration programme of 112th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in Trishal on May 25. He also apprised the President of holding an international Nazrul conference in June next in Dhaka. The Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate the conference, he informed. The President gave his consent to attend the birth anniversary celebration function of the National Poet in Trishal. Cultural Affairs Secretary and other concerned secretaries of the President's office were present on the occasion.
