President M Zillur Rahman Thursday emphasised presenting proper history of the great Liberation War before the country's young generation so that they could be imbued with the spirit of patriotism and feel proud of knowing the nation's glorious history, reports UNB.
"It's our sacred responsibility to build our young generation in the spirit of Liberation War," the President said this while speaking at a cultural function with the winners of national cultural competition of Bangabandhu Shishu Kishor Mela at Bangabhaban Thursday.
Saying that Bangladesh was born through a protracted struggle, the President said the country's children would feel proud of the nation if they were able to know its glorious history of independence, which would encourage them to perceive their responsibility towards the people.
The President hoped that the young generation of today could make immense contribution through participating in creative activities to know life and works of the father of the nation and independence of the country.
Congratulating the winners, Mr Zillur Rahman urged the young generation to acquire noble qualities of good citizens to become a patriotic and valued citizen. "You'll have to take part in many competitions to be great in life in future," he said.
Citing a quotation from Bangabandhu's address 'I want golden human beings to build a golden Bangla', the President said in saying so the late leader meant to build up citizens as honest, competent, ideal and talented ones.
The President reminded that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared 'Charter of Change' with a view to bringing smiles in the faces of the people in distress and said, "You have to contribute to materialising the programme by getting enriched with knowledge of information technology."
