President for prompt action on HR violations

President Professor Iajuddin Ahmed Wednesday asked the newly formed Human Rights (HR) Commission to identify all areas of human rights violation in the country for taking "prompt action", reports UNB.
He made the call when the 3-member Commission led by its chairman Justice Amirul Kabir Chowdhury paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban in the city.
During the meeting, the delegation informed the President that the commission has already started its activities from December 1.
They sought cooperation from the President to have their own office with adequate staff for executing their duties "smoothly".
President Iajuddin expressed the hope that "the poor and distressed section of country's populace would be benefited hugely by the commission".
The other two members of the Commission are Munira Khan and Professor Dr Niru Kumar Chakma. Secretary of the President's Office Md Sirajul Islam, Military Secretary to the President Major General Mohammad Ruhul Amin and President's Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were present.
