President greets countrymen, hails victors

President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed felicitated the countrymen on completion of Monday's general election in a free and fair way. In a message Tuesday, he also congratulated the winning party and the Members of Parliament who were declared elected unofficially. The Awami League-led grand alliance swept the crucial general election with a stunning two-thirds-plus majority. President Iajuddin expressed his hope that "democratic process would be accelerated and strengthened in the country through this election". —UNB
