President invites Mamata to visit Bangladesh

President M Abdul Hamid has invited Chief Minister of India’s West Bengal state Mamata Banerjee to visit Bangladesh. Hamid extended his invitation to Mamata while they attended a dinner hosted by Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi at Raj Bhavan in honour of Bangladesh President on Monday night. Mamata has reportedly accepted the invitation and is likely to visit Dhaka in February, an Indian national daily newspaper reported on Tuesday. West Bengal’s tourism minister Bratya Basu, urban development minister Firhad Hakim and panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee, Bangladesh high commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali, and Bangladesh’s deputy-high commissioner in Kolkata Zokey Ahad, among others, attended the dinner. President Hamid arrived in Kolkata from New Delhi on Monday. He will also visit Visva-Bharati in Santiniketan before leaving Kolkata for home, according to Times of India.
