President lauds role of Armed Forces in nation building works

President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed expressed the hope Tuesday that the members of the Armed Forces would be able to keep upholding the glory of the force through the highest excellence of patriotism, professionalism and intense exercise.
In a message on the occasion of the Armed Forces' Day, the President also appreciated the members of the Armed Forces for their role in nation building and maintaining peace and order in the country including facing disaster, side by side with protecting the country's independence and sovereignty, reports BSS.
Describing the Armed Forces as the symbol of our dignity, the President further recalled the gallantry, sacrifice and contribution of the forces to the War of Liberation in 1971 and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls of the members of the Armed Forces, who sacrificed their lives in the war.
Iajuddin Ahmed, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, also extended his profound sympathy to the injured freedom fighters and members of the families of Liberation War martyrs.
The President said the members of the Armed Forces have heightened the image of the country to the United Nations (UN) and the world around by discharging their obligations with sincerity and efficiency in the UN peace keeping mission.
He also sought peace for the departed souls of the members of the Armed Forces who lost their lives while on duty at the UN peace keeping mission.
