President leaves for Delhi today

President Abdul Hamid will leave for Delhi today (Thursday) on a five-day official visit to attend the International Solar Alliance Summit.
Heads of state and the heads of government from 23 countries are scheduled to attend the summit, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali told a press briefing held at the foreign ministry in the capital on Wednesday.
The Alliance was initiated during the last conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change held in Paris in a bid to promote renewable energy. Bangladesh is a founder member of the Alliance.
The president is expected to have separate meetings with the presidents of India, France and Sri Lanka in the sidelines of the summit.
Besides, the president will also visit some places of Meghalaya and Assam where he stayed for sometimes in 1971 to organise the liberation war.
