President pays homage to Mahatma

NEW DELHI (UNB): President Abdul Hamid on Thursday paid homage to India's Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
The Bangladesh President placed wreaths at the Mahatma Gandhi's 'Samadhi' at Rajghat 4pm (local time).
On his arrival at the Rajghat, Hamid was received by Rajnish Kumar, secretary of Rajghat Samadhi Committee.
After placing the wreaths, Abdul Hamid stood in solemn silence in reverence to Mahatma Gandhi.
Later, the President signed the visitor's book.
In the book, President Abdul Hamid wrote: "Bapuji Mahatma Gandhi is not only a leader of India's independence struggle, but he remains the icon of a rejuvenated civilization permeating through many republics, many nations and many people who proudly share the same matrix of heritage."
