President, PM call for ensuring legal protection for all

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Monday called for ensuring rights to legal protection for all citizens, reports BSS.
In separate messages on the eve of "National Legal Aid Day", they said legal protection has been ensured in the constitution.
The President, in his message, welcomed the move of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs to observe the Day and said ensuring justice is one of the important responsibilities of a modern state.
All are equal in the eyes of law, he said, adding poverty should not be a bar in the way of getting justice.
Abdul Hamid appreciated the Legal Aid Services Act passed in 2000, during the previous tenure of the government to help the poor and helpless people to get justice free of cost.
In her message, the prime minister said the government enacted the Legal Aid Service Act so that none is deprived of justice because of social discrimination or financial constraints.
