President, PM condole Qayyum Chy\\\'s death

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed profound shock at the death of renowned artist Qayyum Chowdhury. In a condolence message, the President recalled Qayyum Chowdhury’s contributions to the field of art and said the nation has lost a great son of the soil at his death. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. Qayyum Chowdhury, the Independence Award recipient artist, passed away after he fell sick at a musical event in the city on Sunday night at the age 80. PM Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said the death of Qayyum Chowdhury is an irreparable loss for the movement in the arena of fine-arts and Bengali culture, as well. The nation with great gratitude will always remember his role in the struggle for freedom of the Bengali nation and every democratic movement, she said.
