President, PM join others to mourn deaths

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock Sunday over the loss of lives and damage in a fire at BM Container Depot in Chattogram's Sitakunda, reports bdnews24.com.
President Hamid conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families of the dead. He wished speedy recovery for the injured.
Prime Minister Hasina has ordered the authorities to control the blaze as soon as possible and run rescue efforts.
She also urged the Awami League leaders and activists to come forward besides the government in helping the fire victims.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also expressed her condolences.
An FE REPORT adds: Different trade bodies, ministers and a political party leader on Sunday expressed deep shocks at losses of lives and injuries caused by a devastating fire at a private container deport at Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram.
Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir, in a statement, expressed deep shocks at the deaths and injuries in the massive fire at Sitakunda's B.M. Container Depot.
"The government is responsible for the losses of lives and injuries due to this blast (Sitakundu fire). This incident of fire again proves the government's failure," he said in the statement, issued on Sunday and signed by senior secretary general of the party Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The BNP secretary general said that the rate of unwanted incidents including fire in the country was increasing due to uncountable failures of the government.
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Md Jashim Uddin has expressed deep sorrow and sadness at the loss of lives and injuries in the BM Container Depot fire.
In a condolence message he prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family members.
In a statement issued by the DCCI on Sunday, DCCI President Rizwan Rahman and the members of its board of directors also prayed for the early recovery of the wounded people in this horrific incident.
